The Egida Legal Aid Foundation was established on 28 February 2022 to promote legal knowledge among all persons residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Statutory objectives:
- Conducting activities to develop and improve legal awareness among Polish citizens and foreigners residing in or planning to stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- Combating legal exclusion of persons with disabilities, persons in need and vulnerable persons;
- Disseminating knowledge about the rights of persons with disabilities, persons in need and vulnerable persons, and raising public awareness of their problems;
- Conducting activities to protect civil rights and freedoms and human rights;
- Taking initiatives to protect women’s rights, including respect for the principle of equal treatment of women and men in law, in legal practice, and in social, political, economic and family life;
- Combating all forms of violence and discrimination against women;
- Combating social exclusion, in particular on the grounds of age, disability, social and financial status, origin, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, nationality and sexual orientation;
- Conducting activities in the area of legislation and application of law to level the playing field for weaker, discriminated or socially excluded groups (including women, persons with disabilities, minorities, refugees, children and young people from dysfunctional backgrounds or culturally, socially or economically neglected areas, foreigners, clients of financial institutions, tenants of municipal dwellings, victims of road accidents);
- Expanding access of Polish citizens and foreigners to information, counselling and legal aid;
- Supporting and promoting the idea of restorative justice, including mediation as an alternative dispute resolution method;
- Nurturing public awareness of issues related to the functioning of the Polish justice system;
- Promoting knowledge of legal culture and legal professions;
- Monitoring legislative processes, as well as the reliability, honesty and efficiency of public authorities;
- Taking initiatives aimed at improving the state of legislation and pro-social initiatives to improve the legal situation of persons with disabilities, persons in need, the elderly and persons at risk of exclusion;
- Conducting civic oversight of public authorities or private institutions;
- Creating and organising advisory committees (think tanks) dealing with research and analysis on public affairs.
Methods of achieving statutory objectives:
- organising, developing and providing legal aid, including free legal advice;
- organising and running courses, training sessions, lectures, seminars, conferences and research programmes;
- providing online counselling;
- conducting consultations with representatives of government and local administration and representatives of the judiciary regarding the existing legal system and new regulations;
- preparing legal analyses, reports and expert opinions;
- preparing legal opinions, including opinions on legislative acts and their drafts;
- monitoring applicable legal regulations and the practice of their application;
- conducting publishing and information activities, including creating and running websites, producing educational films, social campaigns, competitions, publishing guides and information brochures;
- cooperating with public institutions operating at central, regional and local level;
- cooperating with institutions and non-governmental organisations operating both domestically and abroad;
- cooperating with self-governing bodies of legal professions;
- providing technical, training, informational or financial support to other non-governmental organisations, legal entities and natural persons whose activities are consistent with the objectives pursued by the Foundation;
- supporting volunteering;
- appearing before competent public administration bodies, state bodies, judicial bodies (common courts, administrative courts, military courts, the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Tribunal, the Supreme Administrative Court), the Police and other uniformed services, and the prosecution service in matters covered by the statutory objectives.
